READINGS IN MASS VIOLENCE
The episodes of historic violence that have formed our contemporary world are often marked for remembrance by memorials, preserved sites, and museums. Despite and because of such commemoration, these histories lose legibility – and the possibility of empathy with those caught up in them. My photographs explore and participate in this process.
For Readings In Mass Violence I photographed texts, written in a variety of languages, at a variety of sites, mostly with a Holga plastic camera.
